The Opportunity:

Are you ready to own high-impact projects , challenge the status quo, and create real value for clients through technology? At PICTON, we’re seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to modernize mission-critical applications, build scalable APIs, and shape our cloud and data platform. You’ll work with .NET Core, React, Next.js, Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake , while embracing ownership, fearlessness, and collaboration.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn and lead

  • Contribute to the modernization of portfolio management and risk applications , helping evolve legacy systems into cloud-native, data-driven platforms.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and APIs that support financial analytics, portfolio insights, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to re-architect legacy workflows for improved performance, maintainability, and integration with modern data systems.
  • Build or enhance front-end experiences for investment and risk tools using modern frameworks and design principles.
  • Partner with data and platform teams to ensure seamless connectivity between applications, data warehouses, and analytical pipelines.
  • Help define modern engineering practices , improving automation, CI/CD, observability, and deployment pipelines.
  • Conduct code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure robust, compliant, and performant solutions.
  • Participate in shaping the technology roadmap , influencing architecture and modernization strategies.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in software development , ideally within financial services or data-intensive domains .
  • Proven ability to design and implement APIs, microservices, and data integrations supporting analytics or portfolio workflows.
  • Experience working with cloud environments (Azure preferred) for application hosting, storage, and data integration.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse or Lakehouse architectures (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake) and how they support analytics and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles (modularity, scalability, SOLID, clean architecture).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines , automation, and deployment tooling (Azure DevOps or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Experience

  • Development experience in .NET and/or Node.js environments.
  • Exposure to portfolio management, trading, or risk analytics systems .
  • Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications into modern, service-oriented architectures.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React or Next.js .
  • Experience with WPF for desktop or client-side financial tools.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures (Event Grid, Event Hubs, Kafka, etc.).
  • Experience with containerization and infrastructure as code (Docker, Terraform, Azure Container Apps).
  • Understanding of identity and access management (OAuth2, Azure AD, JWT).
