Weyerhaeuser's Wood Products business is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support a unionized manufacturing site located in Vancouver, British Columbia.
This role will support the Annacis Island (Vancouver) manufacturing site for a 24-month temporary assignment. This position will report to the Sr. Human Resources Business Manager with a strong dotted line of responsibility to the Mill Manager. The HR Generalist will provide onsite human resource support to the manufacturing facility.
The HR Generalist must have appropriate leadership skills, HR technical knowledge and experience to participate in human resource special projects, processes and assignments within the Wood Products HR team.
Key Functions:
- Role model safety standards and on-the-job behavior by role modeling Weyerhaeuser’s core principles of integrity, fairness, creating a positive work environment, and ensuring open communication among associates.
- Strategic business partner and member of the mill leadership team as well as the Engineered Wood Products (EWP)/Panels HR team.
- Provide consultation, guidance and coaching to leaders and associates.
- Proactively manage HR administrative activities and labour relations.
- Ensures compliance requirements and champions diversity goals and inclusive work environment.
- Manage education, training and continuous development of skills for leaders and associates.
- Ensures provincial and labour relations compliance requirements.
- Responsible for salaried and hourly staffing functions (includes sourcing, recruiting, retention and on boarding process).
- Supports Wood Products HR initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 to 4 years of human resource generalist or equivalent experience in key HR functions.
- Demonstrated safety leadership skills.
- Experience in leading change management initiatives.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated courage to intervene and be proactive.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships at site, across WP businesses and in the local community.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills.
- Experience in issue resolution and employee relations.
- Experience in Talent and Performance Management.
- Strong sourcing, recruiting and staffing capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, manages multiple priorities, assess HR implications and manage details.
- Strong understanding of the Province of British Columbia employment laws.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in HR systems.
Preferred:
- Experience working in manufacturing union environment
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $84,688 - $121,861 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
