About the role
As a key member of the Kids & Company team, the Kitchen Assistant supports the day-to-day food preparation and kitchen operations. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food quality expected at our daycare centers, while helping fulfill our mission to provide exceptional care to children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portion and deliver food to classrooms daily
- Wash dishes and follow proper sanitization procedures
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, follow FIFO for proper storage and food safety practices
- Maintain temperature logs and comply with all health and safety regulations
- Follow daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen cleaning schedules
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with all sanitation standards
- Adapt to additional duties as needed to support center operations
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience as a Kitchen Assistant or in a similar role
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in a daycare or childcare setting is an asset
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Must pass a criminal record check
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
