About Us STEM Innovation Academy is a new public charter junior high school located in SW Calgary. Our school currently serves over 400 students in grades 7-9. We are excited to be expanding our program to high school in a new location in the fall of 2022. With a mission to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders, we believe every student can be successful in STEM and should have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge science and technology topics.
Position Information
Casual – Guest Teacher
Education and Experience
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
The Successful Candidate For This Position Demonstrates
- Strong ability to positively relate to students
- Willingness to be adaptableteaching various subjects and grade levels
- Good classroom management skills
- Confidence, skill, knowledge and understanding of differentiated instruction, student engagement strategies, and assessment practices
- Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, Edwin, etc.

We are a new grade 7-12 public charter school that offers programming that is unique in Alberta. The STEM Innovation Academy provides a well-rounded education with an emphasis on STEM topics - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We have a global focus and the program prepares students to be innovators and problem solvers.
Not only do we infuse the existing science curriculum with leading edge content, we are creating new courses that allow students to explore topics like artificial intelligence, medical technology, cryptocurrency, digital media and design, and energy and environmental technology.
We are global in focus. Recognizing technology is the future of every industry, we work with post-secondary institutions and industry to ensure our content is leading-edge.
Hands on learning opportunities are important, and our maker space and creative spaces allow students to explore.
