About the role

Job Description Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings. You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement. Who We Are Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.

Corporate Actions team The team facilitates end-to-end processing of corporate actions across various depositories. Corporate Actions include mandatory actions, mandatory with options, and voluntary actions. Depositories include Canadian (CDS), US (DTCC) and Foreign (Citi).

The Team Manager is the direct leader of the team. This role oversees the day-to-day operations, managing volumes, and ensuring an effortless customer experience. The role reports into the Manager, Operations (Corporate Actions & Entitlements)

Responsibilities

  • Operations management

  • Reviews day to day work as needed, ensures completion of all tasks

  • Identifies processing errors/trends; suggests plans to correct

  • Ensures accepted policies and procedures are adhered to, and risks to FCC or clients are identified and proactively mitigated

  • Provides functional area expertise, oversight, problem resolution, training, analysis, and reporting

  • Responsible for analyzing the flow of work which includes process improvements; recommends/implements a course of action ensuring appropriate training for associates.

  • Navigate escalations and troubleshoot for case resolution

  • Achieve performance metric targets

  • Compliance and risk management.

  • Assists in or develops supervisory procedures that are designed to strengthen regulatory and risk controls for assigned team(s)

  • Oversees the risk and exposure of the day-to-day work

  • Participates in internal and external audit engagements; assists with remediation of all findings that impact scope of assigned work.

  • Accountable for identifying issues and risks (financial and regulatory); proactively resolves where possible or escalates appropriately

  • Issues escalated and resolved in a timely manner by following identified procedures.

  • Responds and actions time-bound items

  • People management

  • Engage team in establishing clear and measurable goals that achieve business results.

  • Ensure all direct reports have a documented development plan and progress update according to their action plans

  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to help direct reports and team meet business objectives and enhance individual performance.

  • Ensure team understands FCC’s values, risk tolerance, and policies and procedures

  • Ensure team receives the training on the skills and knowledge to proficiently perform the role

  • Provides input into business and resource planning/execution

  • Provides subject matter expertise for business planning

  • Understands resource needs and advocates for appropriate staffing levels

  • Plays an active lead role in corporate/divisional projects and initiatives

  • Participate in implementation of products and services as applicable

  • Working relationships

  • Collaborates with peers and leaders' departments to resolve problems or enhance processes

  • Works with key business partners/and correspondents on projects and initiatives.

  • Partners with external business partners such as 3rd party vendors and custodians, to communicate and resolve issues.

  • Seeks out Continuous Improvement opportunities to enhance ease of doing business for clients and to further support the team

  • Looks for opportunities to partner and build networks across businesses

What We Are Looking For Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Corporate Actions
  • Organized self-starter, with a proven ability to manage a specialized team with complex task
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively able to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with customers and team members.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to divisional and departmental initiatives, implement initiatives and manage change
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • A clear understanding of risks associated with complex functions, and the ability to balance risk, regulation, and customer expectations
  • Clear understanding of reconciliation methodology and standards.
  • A curious mindset

Experience

  • 3+ years in Financial Services
  • 3+ years progressive experience within the brokerage or financial services industry
  • 1+ years of experience coaching, training, mentoring, and leading people
  • Knowledge of Canadian Securities Industry is an asset
  • CSC certification is an asset
