Quality Assurance Lab Technician

About The Role The responsibility of the Quality Assurance Lab Technician is to perform day-to-day activities, perform analysis and be able to interpret QA information as per Barry Callebaut Policies and Procedures. The Technician will communicate and interact with inside and outside customers. The Quality Assurance Technician ensures food and employee safety in their daily routine.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day‑to‑day QA activities, including sample retrieval/testing for ingredients and finished products, interpreting results, and recommending actions.
- Maintain QA databases, traceability records, COAs, and required QA documentation with accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor QA program trends, verify lab equipment calibration, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct GMP, ISO, sanitation, pre‑operational, and operational inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor and verify CCPs and critical quality checks defined in HACCP, FSSC22000, and company programs, initiating corrective actions when needed.
- Perform in‑process and finished product checks (weights, temperatures, sensory, coding, metal detection, defects) and place non‑conforming product on hold.
- Collect samples for microbiological, chemical, and physical testing, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of results.
- Assist in internal audits, customer complaint investigations, deviations, and follow‑up on corrective/preventive actions.
- Support maintenance and improvement of quality systems and documentation (SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP records) and participate in employee training on food safety and quality requirements.
- Represent QA as needed, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, ensure adherence to safety policies, and perform other assigned duties to support regulatory and quality objectives
About You
- College Diploma/University Degree with preference given to a Science discipline.
- Experience in a Food Manufacturing Environment preferred.
- Previous laboratory experiences are an asset.
- SAP experience is an asset.
- Occasional travel (10% to 30% based on assigned project locations.)
- Must be able to freely move around entire facility.
- Ability to work in and be exposed to heat.
Compensation : Hourly Rate: $33 CAD
Working Hours: Continental shifts: 6:45pm to 7:00am
Shift Details: Night Shift
