Join the hospitality group at Dalhousie University! Aramark is hiring a full-time Residence Dining Manager to operate and manage the O’Brien dining halls. The Residence Dining Manager is responsible for providing operational assistance by overseeing all activities and supervising and directing all supervisory and front- line employees in the unit. This position is responsible for the day-to -day front of house food service operations and provision of daily food service to the residents.

Job Responsibilities
• Supervise, motivate, guide, direct supervisors in the daily food service to clients
• Assist in the recruitment, orientation and retention of new and existing staff
• Motivate and encourage staff to ensure Customer Service Standards are maintained
• Work with a team of supervisors for day-to-day management of approximately 15 employees
• Manage HR related issues, progressive disciplinary infractions, respond to safety concerns
• Record and analyze financial data on Customer Accounts, Average Check, Food/Labour Costs
• Responsible to oversee cash handling - balance cash floats, petty cash receipts, deposits
• Perform component opening and closing procedures
• Assist with performing weekly inventory
• Assist with developing and maintaining staff job routines and schedules and covering call offs
• Ensure daily temperature logs are kept on fr idges and freezers
• Ensure adherence to all OH&S policies, procedures and required activities
• Update safety boards, inventory on First Aid Kits, proper chemical handling, monthly safety talks
• Ensure staff adherence to Aramark policies and procedures
Qualifications
• 2-5 years management experience in a fast-paced food service environment
• Previous commercial culinary or cooking experience is an asset
• Inventory control and cash handling experience required
• Experience with scheduling, recall procedures, and recruiting in a food service environment
• Experience in a unionized environment is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interact with staff and customers
• Strong acumen for operational budgets, working with allocations, controlling costs and variances
• Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Knowledgeable of employment standards and health and safety legislations
• Confident, organized, and able to multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to keep reliable attendance and work some flexible hours to meet with client requirements
