What to Expect: We are looking for a Manager, Technical Services based at our North York head office, reporting into the Sr. Manager, Technical Services. This role will support our Nestle Health Science business, working collaboratively to develop and execute the Innovation and Renovation (I&R) pipeline. As the Manager, Technical Services, you will be responsible for delivering essential ingredient, recipe, and process knowledge to support the creation of new and renovated products at Nestle factories and Co-manufacturers. Additionally, you will be accountable as the technical expert to Canadian and Global cross-functional team members, ensuring the continuity of product supply and driving consumer satisfaction.
A day in the life of a Technical Services Manager
- Execution of I&R Strategy - Ensure technical delivery of medium to high complexity development projects from concept to post launch evaluation:
- Support exploratory work into new business opportunities delivering solutions to enable technical feasibility
- Drive the development/renovation and introduction of new products, processes in the factory(ies), affiliates and third parties, independently or in close collaboration with NPTC Responsible
- Ensure flawless new product/technology deployment including know-how.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional team to help drive business alignment and prioritization enabling delivery of I&R strategy
- Ensure that the 3Cs (Consumer Preference, Compliance, Competitive Advantage) are achieved in their projects
- Product and Process Technical Expert - be the local authority for product and process knowledge
- Continuous Optimization / Improvement of current products and processes within factory(ies) according to local business needs, supply situation and/or implementation of key initiatives
- Develop and maintains within TAG the competencies required for product & process mastership to enable zero defects in manufacturing
- Build technical knowledge of products, ingredients and manufacturing across the cross-functional business team and with key external partners
- Act as the link between R&D and Operations: maintain contact with R&D and other AGs within product category at least to share best practices, when appropriate participates in Business Specific Expert Networks, Webinars or R&D Expert Networks to leverage knowledge
- Provide technical support to factories for new and optimized product introductions
Role Requirements
- Technical Degree (BS/MS in Food Science, Engineering, Nutrition or related field)
- Minimum of 8 years related experience
- Proven ability to manage complex projects & diverse stakeholders
- Experience in influencing projects and business strategies
- Demonstrate Project Management skills including stage gate product development process from concept to post-launch
Preferred Skills –
- Knowledge of I2L process and tools
- Knowledge of standards, instructions policies applicable to the AGs, generic, functional and category specific (eg. Policies, GIs, MIs)
- Strong understanding of I&R strategy and KPIs and their impact to overall business performance
- Product and process knowledge in relevant categories including beverages, premium waters and food service including knowledge of materials and suppliers
- Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.
- As the successful candidate, you will need to be passionate, tenacious, results focused and enjoy working in a high paced and dynamic environment.
This role will continue to evolve, and there may be opportunities for additional responsibilities in the future. The Recipe Management and Digital Solutions Specialist will work closely with the I&R Technical Lead and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects and the continuous improvement of processes across categories.
