Heritage Co-op is hiring a Finance Manager . With a strong and growing presence across southwestern Manitoba , we’re excited to offer this opportunity based out of our Administration Office in Minnedosa, MB .
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Vice President – Finance & Risk, the Finance Manager provides leadership and oversight to the Accounting Department. The Manager plays a key role within the organization, driving cross‑functional collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within the finance function. This role leads and develops a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high‑performance culture grounded in accountability, integrity, excellence, and teamwork.
Key Job Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee general ledger activities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly supported with schedules and reconciled.
- Manage timely and accurate period-end closings.
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows.
- Prepare and review the financial reports to ensure the completeness, accuracy, timeliness and compliance with the accounting reporting standards.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team by setting clear performance goals, conducting regular performance reviews, and supporting professional development and growth.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards. Maintain a strong control environment to mitigate risk.
- Partner with Finance Division leaders and cross-functional teams to support organizational initiatives and drive financial alignment.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, respond to accounting-related inquiries, and implement audit recommendations as appropriate.
- Manage all tax filings and ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- 8+ years of experience in senior-level accounting position overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, audit readiness and managing the accounting team.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Strong technical accounting and reporting skills. Strong ability to interpret financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- Ability to identify issues and to recommend options in certain scenarios.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross functional collaboration.
- Ability to identify internal control weakness and improve control frameworks.
- Ability to lead, mentor and develop accounting staff in alignment with the organization’s goal.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and ASPE, with the ability to apply standards in financial reporting and analysis.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Planful, JDE and other equivalent ERP systems.
