Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Lead is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and mechanical systems within the HDPE production facility in Sackville, New Brunswick. In addition, this role oversees facility operations, ensuring that the building infrastructure, utilities, and safety systems are maintained to support optimal plant performance, compliance with regulatory requirements, and a safe working environment. This role will be responsible to offer after hours support and will be paid according to the Employment Standards Act of New Brunswick for overtime hours.

We are looking for someone preferably with Red Seal Certification in Industrial Mechanic and or Industrial Electrician, but are open to some with experience in the trades who is well rounded in industrial and facility maintenance. The wage may very depending on certification and experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Duties

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, motors, drives, control panels, PLCs, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical distribution systems, lighting, and automation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with CSA, ESA, and relevant electrical codes.
  • Assist with design and implementation of control system upgrades and automation projects.

2. Mechanical / Millwright Duties

  • Install, align, dismantle, and maintain production machinery, including extruders, pumps, conveyors, and HDPE processing equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (lubrication, adjustments, replacement of worn parts).
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs.
  • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

3. Facility Management

  • Oversee building systems such as HVAC, compressed air, water treatment, and security systems.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for facility-related projects and repairs.
  • Maintain facility maintenance schedules, records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure facility meets all OHS, environmental, and building code requirements.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow and enforce all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and confined space protocols.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of occupational health & safety regulations, electrical and mechanical standards.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action for downtime events.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce maintenance costs and increase equipment reliability.
  • Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) records.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Licenses- Red Seal Industrial Electrician, Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in plastics/HDPE or chemical processing.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
  • Experience with mechanical alignment, welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, building codes, fire protection).
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
