Job Description We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Technical Writer to join our Cryptography department. This role is essential in creating, maintaining, and enhancing technical and project documentation, policies, procedures, strategies, and road maps, while ensuring clarity and consistency across all materials. The Technical Writer will play a critical role in bridging the gap between technical subject matter experts and non-technical stakeholders, supporting Internal and Enterprise level projects, and contributing to the success of the organization's cybersecurity initiatives and uplifting of the department's maturity level.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive technical and governance documentation for cryptographic projects, including system and process requirements, design specifications, RACI charts, traceability matrices, system overviews, technical guides.
- Work with teams to identify and document current state technology capabilities/ecosystem and support stakeholders to design the desired future state.
- Support the development of business cases including RFI/RFP and service level agreements with vendors/suppliers consistent with technology requirements/guidelines.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
- Document processes and workflows for encryption, secure data handling, and other security measures.
- Draft, review, and update cybersecurity policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technology implementation guides, playbooks, configuration guides, user guides, technical reports.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to industry's best practices, regulatory requirements in financial industry space, and TD's documentation templates.
- Create clear and visually engaging presentation decks for technical peers and senior management.
- Translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for diverse audiences.
- Proofread and refine documentation created by team members to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Apply style guides and standardize content formatting across all deliverables.
- Work closely with cybersecurity engineers, cryptographers, and project managers to gather and capture information.
- Assist in organizing documentation repositories to ensure easy access and traceability. Perform proper identification and dissemination of resource material.
- Take lead role in proper technical documentation lifecycle management. Engage, motivate, and guide technical teams through the documentation process and drive it to completeness.
- Create and maintain traceability documentation to link system requirements to design and implementation phases.
- Ensure alignment with organizational security standards and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
- Develop documentation in response to, and in anticipation of, changes in the business environment.
- Collaborate with a team at the forefront of cybersecurity and cryptography innovation.
- Contribute to critical initiatives that safeguard enterprise data and systems.
- Coordinate staff information and provide update meetings.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience as a technical writer in a cybersecurity or technology-focused environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen diligence.
- Ability to translate complex technical details into clear and concise documentation.
- Proficiency in documentation and tracking tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA) and design tools (e.g., Office 365, PowerPoint, Power BI).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and cryptography concepts, such as encryption, data protection, and secure communication.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain medium to longer term focus required by elevated level of complexity in documentation writing process and/or analysis function.
- Experience in financial industry and/or cryptography is a plus.
