What you'll do:
Technical Management and Community of Practice
- Manage technical domains and ensure specific competencies as a community of practice lead
- Identify software and Technical Debt and work with the community of practice to address it by establishing local action plans or identifying structuring capital projects
- Work with DevOps and Architecture Enterprise Centers of Excellence to ensure best practices are followed and gradually evolve to target maturity levels
- Understand, teach, or sponsor the software and hardware engineering skills necessary to support the development of high-quality codes, components, systems, and solutions
- Foster communities of practice (CoP)
Team Management & People Development
- Work with people to help them progress – identify training needs and development plans
- Establish and document annual objectives, talent Review, performance management, payroll management and compensation process for your employee group
- Set and monitor expectations and compensation and provide active coaching to advance individual skills and career goals
- Help ensure employee engagement and satisfaction using available corporate tools
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- See the big picture (the forest rather than the tree) and strengthen the organization's capacity to build quality products
- Be active in person or remotely to see what's really happening in the workplace and determine how best to help the team improve their work
- Continuously help align teams to the system's mission and vision
- Promote and facilitate communications and knowledge exchange between product groups, portfolio architecture and implementation teams
- Collaborate with the System Architect or Engineer, Product Managers, and Product Owners to establish explicit content authority
Agile Process & Continuous Improvement
- Help the team and the Scrum Master eliminate obstacles and implement improvements
- Protect teams from distractions and unnecessary work
- Help establish agile milestones and roadmaps, as well as the plans that enable them to develop, implement and communicate the economic framework
- Participate in Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshops; support teams by helping them eliminate systemic obstacles and implement continuous improvement
- Participate in PI planning, system demonstration, and solution demonstration
System Quality and Security
- Reinforce essential security practices and ensure that security is treated as an essential requirement in all solution design and implementation
- Ensure that performance, resiliency and general operability of the production system are among the requirements evaluated and considered in the design and delivery phases
- Identify delays in the system by facilitating or participating in Value Stream Mapping
Culture and Work Environment
- Create a fact-based environment and build a sense of trust and sharing
- Provide freedom and security so that individuals and teams are free to innovate, experiment, and even fail occasionally
- Communicate openly and honestly with all stakeholders
- Prioritize productivity, quality, transparency, and openness over rigid organizational principles
- Provide additional resources, as needed, to enable teams to successfully achieve their vision and roadmap
What you bring:
Soft Skills
- 10+ years of experience with technical team members management
- Ability to positively influence teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Developed empathy and emotional intelligence
Technical Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or administration
- 10+ years of experience in software development
- Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
- Working knowledge of Microsoft environments (SQL Server, Visual Studio, C#, Azure)
- Hands-on experience with Agile at Scale processes
