Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a hard-working and motivated Engineering Graduate to join our Materials Technology team at our Peterborough location for this entry-level twelve-month contract position. You will join a team of enthusiastic and dedicated technicians while operating under the supervision and mentorship of our civil and geotechnical engineering professionals.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing and inspection services on-site for various construction projects within Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
- Conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
- Concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.
- Providing support to the engineering team with the review of data and preparation of related documents, to be reviewed by senior engineering staff.
- Support field staff in investigative work, including concrete coring, specialized testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.
What you will bring to the Team
- Must be a recent graduate from a Bachelor of Engineering Degree program in civil, geotechnical, or similar engineering programs.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
- The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
- Access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license to carry out daily site inspections.
- Competent with the use of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs.)
- Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possibly overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
- Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day using a personal vehicle.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. -Able to commute to Peterborough Office (Mandatory)
Compensation:
- Hourly compensation at market rates.
- Reimbursement per kilometre for the use of your personal vehicle at rates adhering to the schedule by the Canadian Revenue Agency.
- Tiered health benefit packages paid for by GHD for both contract and full-time employees.
The salary range for this position is $56,300 to $93,875.
The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications, and work location. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhering to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
