Hourly Rate: $18.22
Position End Date: March 31, 2027

The ITS Business Operations Intern is a student position that provides hands-on learning and operational support within Information Technology Services. Reporting to the Director, Business Operations (or designate), this role supports the ITS Business Operations portfolio through structured rotation across Software Asset Management (SAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and Knowledge Management, while also assisting with general administrative and operational tasks. This position is designed to expose students to enterprise IT operations, governance, and service management practices in a post-secondary environment, while developing foundational skills in data management, documentation, and process support.
How you'll contribute
Software Asset Management (SAM)
- Assist with maintaining and updating software inventory and entitlement records
- Support data validation, cleanup, and reconciliation activities
- Assist with documenting software usage, licensing information, and renewal tracking
- Contribute to SAM-related documentation and process improvement initiatives
Hardware Asset Management (HAM)
- Support tracking of IT hardware assets throughout their lifecycle (deployment, refresh, retirement)
- Assist with asset audits and inventory verification activities
- Update asset records and support reporting requirements
- Help organize hardware-related documentation and records
Knowledge Management
- Assist with organizing, reviewing, and updating internal ITS knowledge articles and documentation
- Support publishing and formatting of knowledge content to ensure clarity and consistency
- Help identify outdated or missing content and recommend improvements
Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide general administrative support to the ITS Business Operations team
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and basic analysis tasks
- Support documentation, templates, and process tracking activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Must be registered for the Fall semester at SAIT; full-time status is not required, and non-credit course enrolment is acceptable
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work with data, spreadsheets, and documentation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow defined processes
Preferred
- Interest in IT operations, business operations, or service management
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, or similar collaboration tools
- Coursework or interest in IT, business, information systems, or data-related disciplines
Skills & Competencies
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a professional environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Discretion and professionalism when handling operational information
Working Conditions
- Office and/or hybrid work environment
- Use of standard office equipment (computer, phone, printer)
- Flexible scheduling aligned with academic commitments
