Telecommunication Information Systems Technologist
About the role
Telecommunication Information Systems Technologist Location: Alberta, Canada (Primarily Onsite with Travel Throughout Alberta) Contract Duration: 3 Years Extension Option: Up to 24 Additional Months
Client is seeking one (1) Telecommunication Information Systems Technologist to support the Alberta First Responders Radio Communications System (AFRRCS), a province-wide emergency communications network supporting police, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies. The selected resource will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, securing, troubleshooting, and enhancing mission-critical telecommunications and information technology infrastructure supporting emergency response operations throughout Alberta.
Must-Haves
- Current Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification
- Current Secret Security Clearance
- Current Criminal Record Check (Issued Within Last 90 Days)
- Ability to Travel Throughout Alberta
- Experience with Communication Technology Systems Utilizing Virtualization
- Minimum Two (2) Communication Technology Projects Within the Last 10 Years
- Minimum Three (3) Months Involvement Per Project
- Strong Telecommunications Infrastructure Support Experience
- Experience Supporting Mission-Critical Systems

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support AFRRCS communication systems.
- Ensure telecommunications systems remain available, reliable, and secure.
- Evaluate and implement technology improvements.
- Support telecommunications and IT infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Assist with system upgrades and modernization initiatives.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and security.
- Support mission-critical emergency communication operations.
- Work with government staff, service providers, and equipment suppliers.
- Prepare monthly project status reports.
- Report progress, deliverables, risks, and concerns.
- Travel to communication sites and government facilities throughout Alberta.
