Purpose
The Fleet Technician I (apprentice) performs basic maintenance, repairs, and inspections on company vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. This is an entry-level position that works under the supervision of more experienced technicians and supervisors, providing opportunities to learn and develop skills in fleet maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for mechanical and safety issues.
- Perform minor repairs and replacements of components under supervision, such as brakes, lights, belts, and hoses.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting basic mechanical, electrical, and other system malfunctions.
- Use hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other specialized tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Follow safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with vehicle and equipment washing and detailing.
- Learn and apply technical knowledge related to various types of vehicles and equipment within the fleet.
