Compensation Details:
- Cybersecurity Specialist 19: Salaries typically range from $109,810 to $146,413 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Lo****cation:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

We're looking for a dynamic and seasoned professional to act as the technical lead of cybersecurity’s Data Security and Posture Management program, including the implementation of new tools, development of governance frameworks, and deployment of operating models for the critical area in the ongoing management of data loss risk at EDC. This role reports into the Director, Cybersecurity Operations & Engineering.
What you will be doing:
- Establish, implement and continuously improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and metrics aligned to overall functional and corporate objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for data security.
- Identify opportunities for investment and implementation of technical solutions fit for purpose to EDC’s defined needs.
- Work closely with infrastructure and application teams to ensure data security measures are integrated into all aspects their operations. Evangelize “Secure by Design” as a delivery principle.
- Partner with technology and managed service providers to support data security capability implementation, as well as the operations team to mature monitoring and response capabilities.
- Build new posture capabilities in the organization access applications, data, infrastructure, and cloud assets.
- Lead the program execution of multiple data security projects, including management reporting, vendor performance management, risk & issue tracking, and deliverable acceptance to operations.
- Service as a subject matter expert on data related programs, both led by EIS or where EIS is engaged to support.
- Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and mitigates. Provide insight and recommendations to leadership on strategic enhancements to services.
- Liaise with external agencies, such as Government of Canada (GoC), cyber agencies and other advisory bodies to ensure that the organization maintains strong data security capabilities relative to peers and comparable organizations in market.
What we are looking for:
- Education: Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Management Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Domain experience: Minimum of 10 years’ “hands-on” program management experience in data domains, ideally incorporating “Secure by Design” practices into delivered work.
- Functional experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an outsourced IT environment, either on the client or vendor side.
- Data protection experience: Proficiency in configuring and managing Microsoft Purview's data protection features, such as DLP policies, endpoint protection, and risk assessment tools.
- Application security: Proficiency in managing secure application deployment and maintenance in a hybrid enterprise environment.
- Domain knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of methods and motivations adopted by adversaries to attack IT platforms and automated information systems.
- Communication skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units. Candidates should be able to engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement. Proven experience in tech fluency and business fluency, and a demonstrated ability to “translate” between the two.
- Framework knowledge: Working knowledge of both ITIL and Agile principles. Understands how backlogs are formed and how to influence them.
- Tools: Experience operating or managing Microsoft Purview, and all adjacent components in the M365 E5 stack.
What will make you stand out:
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Information Security Administrator Certification, or other certificate demonstrating ability using Microsoft security stack.
- Program financial management experience: Experience managing program finances, including burn rate, accruals, forecasting, and variance reporting.
- Functional experience: Experience working with offshore technical staff, with a focus on effective communication and performance management.
- Language: Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
