About the role
The Assistant Manager, Contract Administration is responsible for managing the Collections, Repossession and/or the Debt Enforcement teams in a high-volume environment. Subject to multi deadlines, time pressures and constraints, they work with their teams to maximize recoveries while minimizing collection costs and losses. The teams performance impacts the receivables (delinquencies) and write offs (losses) reported each month and publicly reported each quarter. They ensure the teams attempt to enforce contract agreements while maintaining a valued customer centric approach.
The Assistant Manager recruits and hires while is also responsible for the creation and development of a comprehensive training program, provide onboarding, orientation and training to team members. They are responsible for coaching behaviours, setting and monitoring performance metrics, delegating tasks and reporting to the team and managers.
Your role**:**
- Manage and support Collections, Debt Enforcement and Repossession teams in achieving department goals and desired business results (which have a direct impact to receivables and write-offs/losses), while maintaining a customer centric approach
- Oversee, monitor and providing guidance on collections in all stages – from early (current) delinquencies through to 90+ delinquencies to ensure appropriate actions are taken
- Review recommendations to accelerate accounts including requests for warrants for seizure, accounts for write-offs and other courses of action including use of external legal teams
- Determine the ability of the debtor to meet financial obligations by analyzing their financial position through credit reports, bank statements, financial statements, cash flow statements, tax returns, corporate searches and PPSA searches
- Address and resolve client disputes or issues related to payments, dealing tactfully and diplomatically with difficult situations and aggressive and/or emotional clients
- Provide necessary training or assign training for individuals to perform their roles effectively
- Maintain current awareness of regulatory issues
- Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of all customer information in accordance with internal policies and procedures, and federal
- Ensure diligence in analyzing data and documentation to identify any potentially fraudulent activities

Prerequisites**:**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related discipline
- Knowledge of acts/regulations impacting debt collection, both Federal and Provincial
- Knowledge of accounting methods to analyze financial statements and data
- Knowledge of collection techniques such as skip tracing, demands, liens and other recovery actions
- Proficient in working with Microsoft Office (Excel / Word)
