About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW

The ICAT Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates and bid documents for a variety of electrical construction and ICAT projects. The Estimator works with suppliers, clients, and the ICAT division to provide accurate detailed estimates in a timely fashion. The Estimator will be reporting to the Senior Director of Technology Services. This individual will represent Symtech in a professional capacity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review drawings and specifications; Complete take-offs based on drawings and specifications; Send pricing request documents to distributors as directed; Assist with take-offs and estimates for Communications, IT, and Large Construction; Issue Requests for Information and Requests for Quote to General Contractors and consultants; Capture all project details to ensure accuracy; Coordinate and maintain communication with all relevant stakeholders; Check estimates prepared by other employees when applicable; Submit reports as required; Provide consulting for Audio, Visual, Network, and Security systems; Step in to assist with Project Manager/Coordinator duties when needed; Develop layouts and maintain change notices, change orders, and material requests; Support the Pursuits division as directed, and work with the ICAT Project Manager to complete layouts for Communications and IT; The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor's Degree preferred; an equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant work experience may be considered; Minimum 5 years' experience in Communication Installations; IT background required to complete communications cabling; Demonstrated knowledge of Technology construction projects; High level of expertise with the Accubid program is mandatory; Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, and accounting; Comfortable reading and interpreting blueprints and/or engineering design drawings; Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Skilled in estimating all types of projects, preparing complex proposals with minimal supervision, and coordinating group work effort;

0-20 % travel may be required for this position.
