About the role

Position Overview
The Proposal Writer is responsible for developing clear, compelling, and technically accurate proposal content that showcases our capabilities and expertise in construction. This role combines technical writing with strategic communication, ensuring our RFQ and RFP submissions are compliant, competitive, and persuasive. The Proposal Writer collaborates closely with estimators, engineers, and Project Managers to transform technical input into client-focused narratives that highlight value, innovation, and execution excellenceResponsibilities and Primary Tasks

  • Proposal Development: Lead the preparation, writing, and editing of RFQ and RFP submissions, ensuring content is accurate, compliant, and tailored to evaluation criteria.
  • Technical Writing: Translate construction and engineering information into clear, compelling narratives that highlight the company’s strengths and client value.
  • Collaboration: Partner with estimators, project managers, and subject matter experts to capture methodologies, execution strategies, and risk management approaches for inclusion in proposals.
  • Content Management: Build, organize, and maintain a library of templates, project sheets, resumes, and boilerplate materials; update content regularly to reflect company expertise and industry best practices.
  • Quality Control: Review and refine submissions for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and alignment with corporate branding and client requirements.
  • Market Awareness: Research industry trends, competitor practices, and innovative construction techniques to enhance proposal strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external consultants, facilitating collaboration and timely input.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-submission reviews to identify lessons learned, improve processes, and strengthen future submissions.
  • Flexibility: Undertake additional assignments as directed by management to support evolving business needs

Reporting Relationships
The Proposal Writer reports to the Vice President of Pre-Construction.Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering RFQ/RFP submissions within fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), SharePoint, or CRM platforms is an asset.
  • Proven technical writing skills with the ability to provide a professional writing sample.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical information to different audiences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate input from multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.

Work Environment
The Proposal Writer position is based at the corporate head office in Surrey, BC
