Are you a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic who thrives on solving complex mechanical challenges and working on some of the most impressive equipment in the industry? VanPile is looking for a motivated and experienced mechanic to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC, supporting major marine and infrastructure projects.

This is a project‑based rotational role with excellent support, top‑tier equipment, and the opportunity to work in a stunning coastal location.

The Opportunity

  • Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off
  • Shift: 10‑hour days
  • Location: Prince Rupert, BC
  • Term: Through December 2026, with possible extension
  • Accommodation & Travel: Fully covered

What You’ll Do

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our operations running safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Repairing, troubleshooting, overhauling, and maintaining heavy‑duty mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
  • Working extensively on crawler cranes, including Manitowoc, Liebherr, and Kobelco
  • Diagnosing faults and malfunctions using computerized and other advanced testing equipment
  • Reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and diagrams
  • Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective components using hand and power tools
  • Completing service documentation and maintenance records as required
  • Supporting safe, reliable, and efficient project execution in a demanding work environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman Ticket
  • Experience with Manitowoc crawler cranes (strong asset)
  • Experience working on lattice boom crawler cranes (100–400 ton range)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Comfortable using computers for maintenance logs, timecards, and reporting
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
