Manager – health, safety and human resources

Human resources department

Salary range : $ 87,291 à $124,827

The manager plays a strategic and operational role in promoting a healthy, safe, and engaging work environment. They act as a first-line resource person in prevention, compliance, risk management, investigations, and continuous improvement. The role involves providing support, advice, and guidance to managers, supporting the implementation of best practices in occupational health and safety, disability management, and human resources management. Through expertise and leadership, the incumbent promotes a culture of prevention to support organizational performance and employee well-being.

Main responsibilities

This role is responsible for:

  • Ensure the development, implementation, and monitoring of the prevention program and its associated policies and procedures.
  • Analyze absenteeism files, ensuring follow-up with employees and managers, and external parties (insurance, CNESST, SAAQ, etc..) and implementing best practices to promote recovery.
  • Plan and conduct regular inspections, identifying risks, prioritizing actions, and coordinating the implementation of corrective measures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in incident and accident investigations; analyze, document, and communicate findings; and rigorously follow up on corrective actions with the relevant teams to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Prepare, organize, and lead the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (agenda, minutes, follow-up).
  • Contribute to the evolution of human resources practices from a perspective of continuous improvement and compliance with laws and collective bargaining agreements
  • Participate, on occasion, in the labor relations committee.
  • Participate, on occasion, in the staff interview and selection process.

##Qualifications required

Required qualifications:

  • University degree in health and safety, human resources management, or a related field
  • 5 years or more of significant experience in prevention, inspections, investigations, and the implementation of corrective measures in a unionized environment
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and practices
  • Member of the order of human resources management advisors
  • Experience in occupational health and safety audits, both internal and external
  • Ability to analyse complex situations and communicate effectively
  • Autonomy, rigor, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
