Hypertec is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering (Construction) team in Montreal . If you are motivated, collaborative, and aligned with our values, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Contributing:
-
Develop design drawings, specs, and calculations for data center mission-critical mechanical systems including:
-
Chilled water plants (air-cooled, water-cooled, or heat-recovery chillers);
-
CRAH/CRAC units;
-
In-row and containment systems (Hot Aisle Containment);
-
Pumping systems, piping and hydronic loops;
-
Coordinate pipe sizing, pump head calculations, valve schedules, and equipment selection;
-
Interpret CFD analyses for airflow, rack layouts, containment strategies, and thermal management;
-
Ensure cooling resilience under partial load, maintenance outages, or failure scenarios;
-
Coordinate with electrical engineers for mechanical equipment power requirements for large-scale data center facilities;
-
Integrate mechanical systems with BMS and EPMS;
-
Participate in vendor design discussions and review drawings and submittals;
-
Provide internal support to SCM and prefabrication teams;
-
Support commissioning activities.
What Sets You Apart:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
- 5–12 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical design, or mission-critical facilities;
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, and applicable local codes;
- Understanding of redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1);
- Familiarity with EPMS and BMS system architecture;
- Experience with fast-track design-build environments;
- Experience with chilled water and condenser water systems, CRAH/CRAC and mechanical modeling;
- Knowledge of CFD tools or interpreting CFD outputs;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting project priorities.
