Are you a seasoned Construction Safety Officer looking to elevate your career in a vibrant and fulfilling setting? Van Pile is hiring for an on-site, fly-in, fly-out role with a schedule of two weeks on-site followed by one week off-site. This full-time position spans 12 months in Prince Rupert, with accommodation and travel expenses fully covered.
Position: Construction Safety Officer
Site Location: Prince Rupert - Fly-in in Fly-out
Responsibilities:
- Maintain records, monitor accident frequencies, and oversee safety compliance
- Review documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel
- Support safety planning for new projects and conduct worker orientations
- Lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks
- Monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors, enforce regulations
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and investigate incidents
- Keep management informed on issues affecting project work
- Promote and uphold safe working conditions
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in industrial construction
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Results-driven with good organizational abilities
- Willingness to work shifts and outside the Lower Mainland if needed
Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
- Preferred professional safety designation (e.g., CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, CSS, CIH, or ROH)
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience with BCCSA’s C.O.R. program and auditing processes
- High personal, professional, and ethical standards
- Initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach
- Excellent relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills
- Eager to learn and develop in the safety field
