About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:

The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a full range of maintenance, repair, and service activities. The incumbent will use considerable judgment in making decisions and be able to perform all tasks in accordance with Alamos’ workplace safety rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Preparing layouts in conformance to building codes
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items (doors, stairs, molding, and hardware)
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of a 4-year apprentice program OR a minimum of 5 years’ carpentry-related work experience and high school, college, or industry courses
  • Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of change; must be creative and flexible

Working Conditions:

  • 7x7 rotational work
