Job Overview

The Sunnybrook Research Institute, Department of Psychiatry, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking an energetic, efficient and experienced Research Coordinator to work on projects in the areas of veteran and first responder mental health, including equity deserving groups. This individual will lead the lab, perform research activities for several research studies and projects and over-see the day-to-day operations of a dynamic and collegial team (overseen by Dr. Janet Ellis). They will help to write grant applications, presentations, REB applications, prepare manuscript drafts, develop training manuals and foster relationships with important knowledge users/policy makers in the areas of interest.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social sciences, epidemiology or closely related field

  • 1-2 years of experience in research, including at RC level, in the area of psychology, social sciences, epidemiology and/or psychiatry.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

  • Leadership experience

  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, and adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines

  • Experience with the design and maintenance of databases is desired, as is competence with the software programs Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Statistical experience preferred.

  • Experience in and/or understanding of occupational stress, veteran, healthcare worker or first responder mental health preferred

  • Experience organizing, managing, coding, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data is preferred, including use of SGBA+

  • Previous experience conducting translational or clinical research projects is preferred; expertise in knowledge translation and implementation science is highly preferred

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of research assistants and coordinators on various projects within PI’s lab

  • Assist in research ethics board applications and amendments and maintain study compliance with all terms.

  • Collect, collate, maintain, process, and/or analyze records relevant to current projects

  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and poster presentations

  • Coordinate and assist with writing for grant applications.

  • Work independently as well as within a collaborative environment.

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of ongoing studies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
