School District No. 74 (Gold Trail) is seeking an outstanding leader for the position of Secretary- Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer (CF0) commencing as soon as possible or on a mutually acceptable date.

School District 74 (Gold Trail) is honoured to operate on the unceded and traditional territory of the Nlaka'pamux, St'át'imc and Secwépemc First Peoples. The district is in BC's interior, where it serves 20 Indigenous communities and the municipalities of Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, Lillooet and Lytton. This is a beautiful area of the province where outdoor and recreational activities are plentiful, housing prices are reasonable, and community members enjoy an exceptional quality of life.

As a learning organization, the district works closely with Rights-holders and educational partners to achieve its mission *toensureeachlearnerachievespersonalsuccessintheirlearningandsupportsthemtobecomeresponsibleandproductivecitizenswhocontributetoasustainableandequitablesociety.*With an annual operating budget of approximately $21 million, eight schools, and over 300 employees, the district provides a thoughtful and inclusive educational program to approximately 1,000 students from StrongStart to Grade 12. KeyAreasofActiveLeadership

Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, the Secretary-Treasurer/CFO works collaboratively with the Board of Education, the Superintendent, all members of the leadership team, and school and district staff, in providing excellence in public education. The Secretary- Treasurer/CFO is responsible for:

  • Being the corporate secretary to the Board of Education.
  • Leading the finance, payroll and benefits, human resources, legal, facilities, technology, transportation teams and business activities of the District.
  • Fostering positive, collaborative and effective working relationships with the Board of Education, First Peoples Education Council, local First Nations, governments, education partners, and community organizations.

The district is seeking a:

  • Skilled financial leader who has excellent communication and relationship skills
  • Leader who is transparent, responsive, and collaborative
  • Leader with demonstrated successful experience in accounting, auditing, purchasing and budgeting

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing; a related degree may be considered if supported by recent and relevant experience.
  • Successful experience working with an elected Board.
  • Proven financial management leadership experience in a public sector.
  • Experience with legal, labour, insurance and capital projects would be an asset.

Compensation

Salary range is $171,869 - 190,966. Gold Trail offers a competitive benefits and pension package.
