Intermediate Intern Architect or Architectural Technologist
About the role
ZO1 Architects is looking for Intermediate Intern Architect or Architectural Technologist with minimum 5 years of architecture experience. We are actively engaged in a broad spectrum of work including low-rise and high-rise residential for purpose-built, affordable and supportive mixed-use communities, hotels, senior living and long-term care, retail commercial, workplace and industrial. Many of our clients are established for-profit and non-profit organizations that are shaping the future of communities across the region.
We have particular experience working with non-profit and mission-driven organizations, as well as private-sector clients contributing to community-focused development. The firm is also actively engaged in projects utilizing modular and prefabricated construction systems, supporting efficiency and innovation in delivery.
What we are looking for: · Min 5 years’ experience in architectural design focusing on Design Development of project from Site Plan Approval to Building Permit and Tender phase in Ontario/ GTA context. · Bachelors of Architecture Degree and/or a Master of Architecture or Bachelors of Interior Design · Experience and expertise particularly in high density residential, hotel, commercial, low rise wood frame, or senior living (assist/ life-lease) is considered an asset · Advanced working knowledge of Revit software a requirement · Responsible for ensuring high level of construction documentation accuracy for medium to large-sized residential and commercial projects. · Knowledge in preparing drawing sets for zoning, site plan approval, building permit, tender and construction. · Advance knowledge in OBC Part 3 and Part 9. · Assist in construction administration activities, including shop drawing review, specifications, and site instructions. · Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction from SPA to construction stage · Familiar with wall/ ceiling types and building science on envelope and carry forward the elevation design and materials use to develop plan/ section details/door schedules, room schedule and various schedules for permit / tender issues.. Able to set out the wall, floor, slab edge with proper relationship for development of working drawings. · Able to understand client brief, various municipal bylaws and urban design guidelines. · Proficient knowledge in the use of building materials and related construction techniques · Develop detailed construction drawings and architectural details · Able to provide and receive feedback positively · Assist with construction administration activities, including shop drawing review, specifications, and site instructions. · Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal team members, clients, consultants, city officials. · Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment · Positive and proactive attitude in providing support for project teams · Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Offered compensation will be based on individual qualifications.
