Role Description The Accounting Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This position supports day-to-day accounting operations, including processing vendor invoices, employee expenses, and client billing. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and preparing basic financial reports. The Accounting Assistant will help with month-end closing tasks, organize and file documentation, and coordinate with project teams to ensure financial data is complete and correct. This team member will also respond to internal and external inquiries, support the implementation of accounting best practices, and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Strong foundational accounting skills, including understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and basic financial reporting. Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms, Google Sheets, and other office productivity tools). Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines accurately. Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with comfort working with numbers and identifying discrepancies in financial data. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, courteous approach to collaborating with colleagues and external partners. Ability to work on-site in Edmonton, AB, contributing to a collaborative, studio environment focused on regenerative architecture. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with project-based businesses or professional services firms; experience in architecture, engineering, or design environments is an asset. Commitment to ethical financial practices and openness to learning and adapting to new processes and tools.
