About the role

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time at 300 Elm Street, Sudbury, Ontario. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Trainer to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Field Operations team.

Reporting to the Manager of Business Optimization, the Trainer is responsible for coordinating and delivering employee training programs within the Donor Engagement & Corporate Reputation (DECR) Division. This includes maintaining and regularly updating training and development records, skills assessments, and competency testing to ensure staff remain well-prepared and effective in their roles.

The Trainer collaborates closely with Supervisors, Managers, and Directors across the Donor Relations & Field Operations division, playing a vital role in supporting daily operations. By fostering continuous improvement and skills enhancement, this position contributes significantly to creating positive experiences for both donors and employees. Through these efforts, the Trainer ensures a unified approach to service delivery and operational excellence.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your excellent training skills and experience, you will conduct training needs assessments to identify employee development requirements.
  • You will collaborate with managers to design and deliver training programs aligned with national standards and organizational goals.
  • You will facilitate and deliver new and ongoing training using various techniques to engage and motivate employees.
  • Capitalizing on your CI knowledge, you will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of national training programs and documentation. This includes participating in train-the-trainer sessions and relevant meetings.
  • Channeling your passion for integrity, you will ensure adherence to processes, standards, and customer service through process audits post training.
  • Drawing from your interpersonal and communication skills, you will build effective relationships by collaborating with various departments within the division to align an integrate training initiatives.
  • You will foster a training environment that promotes professional growth, communication, and positive working relationships through facilitation and encouragement of teamwork.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, preferably a certificate in an Adult Education program.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related experience including experience in a customer service environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a regulatory environment with knowledge and familiarity in a Contact Centre environment is an asset.
  • Experience working in a continuous quality improvement environment is an asset.
  • Successfully attains CBS' "Train the Trainer" certification with Corporate Training Program, required for delivery of training events.
  • Proven experience in delivering corporate training programs.
  • Strong background in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or teaching roles.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2days of the week.
  • Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 hours a day.
  • Travel requirements - travel will be required for training needs.
