About the role

Reporting to the Quality Director, Nuclear, the Quality Manager, Nuclear is responsible for the implementation and oversight of project-specific quality assurance and quality control activities across Bird’s nuclear EPC projects. This role ensures that all work is executed in compliance with applicable nuclear standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

The position requires a strong understanding of Canadian nuclear codes and standards, quality management systems, and continuous improvement principles to support safe, compliant, and reliable project execution.

This position will be based out of Pickering, ON.

What You Will Be Working On

Develop and maintain the Project Quality Assurance Plan, ensuring alignment with the Project Execution Plan and contractual requirements. Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to confirm effectiveness and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of quality performance reports for both internal management and client stakeholders. Act as the primary quality representative for the project/site on all quality-related matters. Review and disposition internal and external non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are defined, implemented, and verified in a timely manner. Support tendering and contract review activities by providing quality-related input and identifying potential risks or requirements. Conduct quality reviews of procurement activities, including addressing supplier-related quality requirements and issues. Participate in the evaluation, selection, and qualification of suppliers, including the preparation and maintenance of supplier qualification documentation. Lead and support project quality personnel, providing guidance on issue resolution while monitoring individual and team performance. Coordinate and facilitate project-specific audits and surveillance activities. Support the execution of project self-assessments and internal reviews. Collect and analyze quality-related data, providing input to the Quality Director, Nuclear for management review and performance evaluation. Collaborate with project and corporate leadership to promote a strong quality culture and reinforce continuous improvement across all functions. Establish and monitor project-specific quality KPIs, including both leading and lagging indicators, to identify trends and drive improvement initiatives. Develop, update, and maintain quality assurance and quality control forms, templates, and processes in alignment with evolving requirements and standards. Develop and implement Construction Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) in accordance with nuclear codes, client requirements, and regulatory expectations. Prepare and deliver technical presentations and provide ongoing support and guidance to field QA/QC personnel to ensure effective project execution.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience within the nuclear industry, with a strong foundation in quality assurance and quality control practices. At least six (6) years of direct experience in QA/QC roles within nuclear projects. Quality Management certification or equivalent qualification is required. Strong knowledge of applicable nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N286, CSA N299 series, CSA N285.0, CSA N286.7, CSA B51, CSA A23.1, CSA A23.2, CSA N291, CSA N287 and relevant ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements. CSA W178.2 Level II or Level III certification and CGSB NDE Certifications are considered an asset. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 principles and their practical application within the nuclear or construction environment. Demonstrated experience applying continuous improvement methodologies within nuclear project execution. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities related to quality management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Bluebeam, Power BI, and construction / project management systems (CMS). Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet demanding project schedules.
