About the role

UCN acknowledges that we are on the traditional

territories and homelands of many Indigenous

peoples, in particular the Cree, Dene, Red River

Métis, and Oji-Cree. Indigenous peoples have

continuously maintained homelands in northern

Manitoba since time immemorial. The First

Nations in the area that UCN serves entered into

DUTIES Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor (HRA) provides innovative and strategic advice, support and

guidance in the areas of human resource services including strategic human resource management, labour and employee relations,

compensation, recruitment and retention, and supportive employment and accommodation. The HRA also contributes to corporate initiatives

by serving on joint committees, participating in major projects, and identifying emerging issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree with specialization in Human Resources; an equivalent combination of training, education and experience

may be considered

  • Knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and collective agreements
  • Experience providing general HR consulting services including recruitment and employee/labour relations
  • Experience providing innovative and effective strategic advice to management on human resources issues
  • Experience providing supportive employment and accommodation services
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • A Strong client service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate

complex information to diverse audiences

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships
  • Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently to meet strict deadlines amid changing priorities
  • Commitment to life-long learning
