About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Property Accountant is responsible for managing all financial aspects of assigned real estate properties. This role ensures accurate accounting records, timely financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Real Estate Portfolio
  • Track and record financial activity for Real Estate Portfolio
  • Support financial modeling for acquisitions, dispositions, and lease negotiations
  • Provide support and contribute, as needed, to operational real estate projects
  • Analyze and interpret leases in order to determine billing obligations, recoverable expenses, and rent increases
  • Maintain a set of books for certain real estate companies, using the corporate accounting software. Bookkeeping for all accounting cycles, including the processing of transactions activities
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Reconcile project-related accounts and ensure proper allocation of expenses
  • Coordinate with asset managers to align financial data with strategic property goals
  • Review financial terms in lease agreements and ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Collaborate with legal and operations teams to ensure compliance with financial policies
  • Communicate financial updates and risks to project leads
  • Participate in portfolio reviews and help identify opportunities for cost optimization

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

College diploma in Accounting or Finance.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in real estate accounting.
  • Strong skill in Excel and familiarity with other financial reporting tools.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong ability to work independently.
  • Organized and reliable, detail-oriented, and thorough.
  • Team player, able to manage priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service-oriented, and good interpersonal skills.

LANGUAGES

  • Bilingual, both oral and written (English and French).

Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them.
