Senior Financial Analyst - Mining Sales
About the role
SMS Equipment is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support our Mining Sales team with financial analysis, forecasting, and equipment financing solutions. This role will play a key part in managing financial reporting, sales projections, and financing structures for major mining equipment transactions. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, a CPA designation, and experience in financial modeling and reporting.
Location: Corporate Office in Acheson, AB
Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 per annum, commensurate with experience
Work arrangement: Hybrid – opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week
What you’ll do:
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly mining equipment inventory projections and budget vs. forecast reports.
- Provide real-time sales forecast updates for executive reporting.
- Support the annual budget process in Vena and develop PowerPoint presentations.
- Review cost worksheets to analyze variances between sales quotes and final equipment costs.
- Prepare and maintain Mining Accounts Receivable sales reports, ensuring timely follow-up on collections.
- Coordinate foreign exchange and forward contract bookings related to mining equipment sales.
- Assist in revenue recognition for mining sales, aligning financial reporting with actual sales performance.
- Develop financial dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking for quarterly sales meetings.
Equipment Financing & Lease Structuring
- Prepare and analyze monthly mining equipment inventory projections and budget vs. forecast reports.

- Collaborate with digital transformation teams to enhance CRM capabilities and reporting automation.
- Generate reports and presentations for management, providing insights into sales activity and financial performance.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation with a minimum of two years of experience, along with post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Additional qualifications include:
- 2–3 years of post-designation experience in audit, corporate finance, or financial analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools (e.g., Vena, TValue).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with CRM systems and data management is an asset.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
