What You'll Be Doing:
As a Service Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of the service department with a focus on Combines and Sprayers, ensuring work orders are accurately processed, jobs are assigned efficiently, and customer expectations are exceeded. You’ll support the Service Manager in maximizing team productivity, managing budgets, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, and a passion for leading a service team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibiliites:
- Manage the full work order cycle from generation to closing and invoicing for customer and internal work orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assign jobs and work areas to service department employees according to their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure all accounts payable invoices follow the purchase order system and are posted to the correct work orders and G/L accounts.
- Sell service labor and parts while maximizing technician productivity to meet budgets and goals.
- Handle customer calls and organize day-to-day workloads within the service department.
- Prepare and present quotes to customers for repairs and obtain approvals.
- Monitor and ensure all assigned work is completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure completion of all service warranty and product improvement programs, submitting to the warranty administrator within required timeframes.
- Monitor Work In Progress (WIP) daily to achieve company goals.
- Assist the Service Manager in controlling lost time to meet corporate goals.
- Schedule service department trucking and coordinate with other departments as required.
- Advise the Service Manager of all customer complaints and provide solutions.
- Approve the release of equipment for delivery upon customer payment as needed.
- Provide performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager.
- Assist the Service Manager in all aspects of service department operations.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with John Deere and competitive agricultural equipment is an asset.
- Solid understanding of combines and sprayers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
- Ability to organize, lead, and manage a team effectively.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a service leadership or supervisory role within agriculture or equipment service.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Participation in Saturday rotation and on-call program is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
