We are currently looking for a Standards CADD Technologist to join the Distribution Standards Team within Reliability.

Reporting to the Distribution Standards Manager, the successful candidate will draft standard designs used on the overhead and underground distribution systems. The scope of this role includes drafting in 3D using MicroStation, interpreting drawing markups, working with the standards engineers and technologist to maintain updated standard designs and materials, and maintaining a document control program.

Key elements of this role include::

  • Revising and creating original engineered drawings and figures using MicroStation to reflect current design practices.
  • Interpreting and applying design changes according to markups provided by the standards team.
  • Participating in Standards Committees to capture desired drafting changes.
  • Maintaining a document control system and process for distribution standards drawings and general standards documents.

  • You will be responsible for your personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations
  • You will hold safety paramount at all times, for self and others.
  • Ensuring Safety Program requirements are being met in a timely manner, as defined for the AMO Operations and Capital Program team.
  • You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
  • Achievement of objectives in the Environmental Management System (EMS) on an annual basis as assigned.

We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.

Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.

We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
