ROLE SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director, Compliance, this role will focus on overseeing the quality control and assurance processes in the facility. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with food regulations. This role involves supervising a team of quality control staff, conducting inspections, and working closely with production teams to maintain consistent product quality and resolve any quality-related issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Lead, train, and supervise a team of Quality Assurance Technicians to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards. Provide guidance, and performance feedback to direct reports. · Oversee regular inspections of raw materials, ingredients, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal standards, food safety regulations, and customer requirements. · Ensure adherence to food safety laws and regulations (e.g., FDA, GMP and HACCP) and lead the company’s efforts to achieve and maintain SQF certification. · Establish, review, and update quality control procedures for production processes, handling deviations or issues as they arise. Ensure processes are followed consistently throughout production. · Investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and deviations from quality standards, developing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and collaborating with the production and operations teams to resolve issues promptly. · Organize and deliver training programs for team members on quality standards, best practices, and food safety protocols. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge to perform their roles efficiently. · Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality tests, inspections, audits, corrective actions, and compliance checks. Prepare reports for management to track quality performance and product trends. · Work closely with the production teams to ensure quality standards are met at every stage of production. Act as a liaison between production and management for any quality-related concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS: · Degree or diploma majoring in Marketing / Business · Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field (preferred). · Certifications in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GMP, or similar) are highly desirable. · Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the food manufacturing or bakery industry. · At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or food safety environment. SKILLS REQUIRED: · Proficient use of various office - based software · Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance methodologies, and auditing standards. · Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues. · Leadership abilities and experience managing a team. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). WORKING CONDITIONS: · Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds. · Comfortable working in a manufacturing/bakery environment, which may include exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, and allergens. · Ability to wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as gloves, hairnets, and safety shoes.
Salary: $68,000 to $74,000.00 annually Benefits: Medical and Dental Vacation: 2 Weeks Location: 35 Adesso Drive, Concord ON Type: On-Site
