About the role

The Opportunity

Under the direction of the Food Service Supervisors, the Cook’s Helper prepares short-order breakfast cooking and prepares fillings for sandwiches and salads. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;  preparing meals for Dial for Dining patients, clients and customers in addition to preparing foods for patrons of catering and café, completes the preparation of food items, completes short order breakfast cooking, assists in proper storage of food items, follows correct food handling practices, assists in maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner, waits on customers, taking and completing orders, reports problems related to food preparation, equipment, sanitation, and safety hazards to supervisor, participates in departmental quality assurance programs, participates in training and orientation of new staff and others as required, responsible for knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, performs other related duties as required.

Hours of Work

Variable shifts, day shift, evening shift, backshift, Monday - Sunday

Your Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 or equivalent preparation to secondary school graduation (GED).

• Food Handlers Course and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training required.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work in a team.

• Ability to build and maintain client satisfaction while offering services.

• Ability to multitask.

• Ability to attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to recognize and appropriately react to potential dangers.

• Ability to follow instructions and work processes.
