About the role

Strive Living Society is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and skilled individual to join our growing office as anHR Recruiter with a focus on Talent Acquisition.

The HR Recruiter will work within the existing Recruitment team in creating exceptional candidate experiences by providing agency-wide recruitment and selection services in support of several program departments. The incumbent is an experienced recruitment professional with knowledge of/membership to strong candidate networks, preferably but not limiting to the Community Living Services sector. They will be able to collaborate with our program departments across the agency to understand their recruitment needs and execute a strategy for fulfilling those needs. They must be an ambitious self-starter and team-player.

  • Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.

The key accountabilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct the end-to-end recruitment process and plan with Operations, including but not limited to:
    • Write and post job advertisements for staff and volunteers
    • Review applications and call candidates to pre-screen for eligibility
    • Conduct interviews, shortlist, and select candidates
    • Communicate with, prepare and collect documentation from applicants/personnel, including offer letters
    • Onboard, orientate, and offboard employees/students/volunteers
    • Create and maintain electronic and paper files for HRIS
  • Remains current and applies expert use of talent networks to proactively source and pursue qualified candidates
  • Contributes to recruitment related projects based on knowledge of best practices, to support continuous improvement
  • Identifies, develops and maintains critical strategic external partnerships to support the talent sourcing approach for all programs in Operations. Participates in the selection of vendors for talent sourcing
  • Construct talent pipelines of pre-qualified, available, and interested candidates
  • Identify and network with relevant talent pools to actively engage passive candidates, generating conduits for current and future opportunities
  • Collaborate with other Recruitment Recruiters to compile active and passive candidate target lists though research, cold calling, phone screens, social and professional networking;
  • Have a knowledge and/or willingness to understand employment standards, internal policy, and Collective Agreements
  • Produce documents and reports as required
  • Data Entry, filing, and maintaining files and information
  • Assisting other HR and office personnel as needed

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Proven experience in full cycle recruitment, preferably in a non-profit sector
  • Experience viewing recruitment with an inclusive hiring lens
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders, giving and receiving feedback, and working within a team to provide the right approach to recruitment
  • Ability to assess multiple sources of information and make informed decisions independently
  • Determination to improve candidate experience, and streamline and improve recruitment effectiveness
  • Balances multiple, competing priorities, is self-directed, makes decisions and meet challenging deadlines whilst maintaining a service mindset
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. Human Resources, Business Administration, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in working within an HRIS platform (i.e. UKG Ultipro)
  • Experience with working in Cloud environments (i.e. Microsoft 365, SharePoint/ShareVision) would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with Social Services/Community Living would be an asset

**Job Type:**Part-time Temporary (24 hours).

**Duration:**1 year

**Weekly Schedule:**Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am to 4:30 pm - Hours are flexible due to operational requirements, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.

**Compensation:**Salary is negotiable based on experience and can start from $34.74 per hour.

**Start Date:**ASAP.

**Work Location:**Coquitlam, Hybrid Remote/Telecommuting work arrangement eligible

Strive Living Society (formally Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society) is a registered nonprofit organization that provides community and residential services for children, youth, adults, and seniors with diverse abilities.

Founded in 1988 by a Psychologist and Social Worker with the shared belief that even the most challenging individuals could live successfully in the community, Strive began as a modest group home for three young adults with developmental disabilities from the former Woodlands Hospital.

Today, Strive serves not only adults with developmental disabilities, but also children, youth, and seniors with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complications, mental health issues, autism spectrum disorders, behavioural obstacles, and/or dementia. In addition to residential resources, Strive operates drop-in centres, community-based programs, and home-based services.

Strive’s service area has expanded from North Vancouver to Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, as well as the Sunshine Coast. Most of our programs are fully CARF accredited.

This grass roots agency now serves over 600 individuals, with headquarters based in beautiful Burnaby, BC.
