Attending to 40,000+ service calls per year, Gateway is the largest HVAC & Refrigeration service provider in Western Canada. Our model is comprised of local branch teams with fully qualified personnel representing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, sheet metal and electrical trades. These teams are supported by centers of excellence including professional engineers and project managers which ensures Gateway’s full technical capability is available for every project and service call.

The Position:
The Senior Service Estimator will have a strong background in Thermo Dynamics & Fluid Mechanics. The candidate is eager to become the SME in Commercial Refrigeration & able to perform estimation and project engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence

  • Visit work sites and conduct thorough analyses of customer requirements;
  • Assist in creating solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining profitability to Gateway;
  • Prepare customer estimates and proposals by analyzing drawings, plans and any related customer documents that demonstrate all benefits in proceeding with projects;
  • Present business proposals alongside the Business Developer and/or Account Manager when required;
  • Establish and build relationships with engineering consultants, end-user customers, suppliers and operations;
  • Track estimates presented to customers within the pipeline;
  • Pass over new service work opportunities to the Business Development team or to the Account Manager once project construction is complete;
  • Research new technology and design to sell into new and existing markets with guidance from the Business Development team;
  • Ability to apply engineering background to design and sell profitable projects;
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements/Certifications

  • Post-secondary degree in engineering, construction management, related area of study, or equivalent work experience;

  • 3+ years of experience Commercial /Institutional Refrigeration Systems;

  • Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Office products, focusing on Excel;

  • Class 5 Drivers License .

  • Journeyman Refrigeration or equilvenant Certificate

  • Experience in HVAC/Refrigeration estimating

Desired Requirements/Certifications

  • Experience in Industrial Refrigeration;

  • Professional engineer status (P.Eng);

  • Lean Experience

Physical Work Conditions

  • Office/ onsite setting position;
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%.
