We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Supervisor to join our team. In this position you will have the opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and expertise to help us develop, implement and maintain innovative Environmental Services practices that will meet the current and future needs of Lakeridge Health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager Environmental Services, the Supervisor provides leadership and direction to the Environmental Services staff to facilitate the performance of all duties in accordance with Hospital and Service policies and procedures. The Supervisor schedules and assigns employees to their duties; mentors staff; provides training and orientation in all aspects of housekeeping techniques and cleaning policy and procedures including standard precautions and related infection control guidelines; manages handling of wastes, recyclable materials and safe handling of cleaning substances and equipment; conducts task analyses; conducts performance reviews, maintains records according to Hospital Service guidelines; demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning by participating in educational activities; participates in departmental/service quality improvement initiatives; shares the responsibilities of the Manager in his/her absence; other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of OHA Environmental Services Leadership Program or Healthcare Environmental Services Management Certificate;

  • Demonstrated experience as a Supervisor in an Environmental Services Program, preferably within a unionized healthcare environment;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in modern healthcare housekeeping principles, cleaning techniques and waste management and WHMIS;

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to OH&S and infection control;

  • Proven knowledge of the CUPE collective agreement;

  • Well-developed conflict management/resolution skills;

  • Proven time management, prioritization, organization, and problem-solving skills;

  • Effective team building skills with demonstrated experience and ability in coaching and motivating staff effectively;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide a customer focused approach to service delivery and monitoring and documenting quality improvement and job performance;

  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft programs; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Meditech modules;

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Proven experience with the Mandexin EasyCall System, preferred;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
