Salary : $120-150KYR (Canadian), 10-20% bonus, DOE
Our client, a global leader in the food ingredients industry, is seeking a Project Engineering Manager (focus on Mechanical Engineering) for their global headquarters in Montreal, QC. The Project Engineering Manager will lead and oversee capital improvement and plant layout projects, with a strong focus on mechanical design, installation, and integration of tanks, piping systems, and liquid batch processing equipment. This role requires managing a team of engineers and designers, driving project execution from concept to commissioning, and ensuring technical excellence, safety compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering teams (2-3 direct reports, including engineers and designers), providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance oversight.
- Oversee the execution of capital improvement and plant layout projects, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
- Direct conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design, including layouts for equipment and piping systems.
- Specify, evaluate, and manage the procurement and installation of tanks, piping, and liquid batch processing equipment.
- Review and approve technical documentation, including AutoCAD drawings, budgets, schedules, and CAPEX requests.
- Supervise contractors during construction, installation, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and project requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on feasibility studies, process improvements, and long-term capital strategies.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design practices, engineering processes, and team capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field (Master's preferred).
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in mechanical project engineering or plant engineering.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams (minimum 2-3 direct reports).
- Strong expertise with tanks, piping, and liquid batch processing systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office Suite.
- Track record of successfully delivering capital projects and plant layout initiatives.
- Familiarity with industrial safety, regulatory standards, GMP, and SOPs.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual (French/English)
- Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
