About the role

We are seeking highly motivated Casual Dispatcher for one of Automotive client based in Woodstock, Ontario. The Communications Team Member [C/TM] is a critical member of the Emergency Response Team [ERT] and is responsible for all aspects of Security and Fire Services Communications throughout the duration of their shift.

The C/TM reports directly to the Security Assistant Manager [S/AM] and is responsible for the following:

  • Answer emergency calls to identify nature and urgency of the request, process and dispatch ERT to Fire/Medical/Spill emergency situations in accordance with Emergency Response Standard Operating Procedures [ERSOPs].
  • Operation of the Fire Panel to co-ordinate First Stage, Evacuation, Workplace Violence and Tornado alarms as well as plant wide communications where required.
  • Co-ordinate ERT response with local Emergency Services.
  • Complete Fire Panel system by-passes and register impairments with Fire Monitoring Canada.
  • Monitoring and Operation of CCTV system, reviewing footage and assisting investigations as directed by Securitas Management or Client.
  • Utilizing mass-notification system to provide situational awareness to relevant stakeholder’s dependent on situation.
  • Monitoring of Security access control systems, including system administration and alarm monitoring of doors, access points and swipe readers.
  • Fully familiar with radio use, call signs, 10 codes, phonetic alphabet and always use proper radio and phone etiquette.
  • Maintain accurate account of shift activities and incidents utilizing dispatch and incident reporting software and daily shift report.
  • Assist with scheduling related tasks including coverage calls as directed by Securitas Management.
  • Daily/Nightly filing of all appropriate paperwork.
  • Daily statistics inputting
  • Comply with all Post Orders, Standard Operating procedures [SOPs], ERSOPs and TMMC policies.
  • Complete all training, projects, additional duties and functions as directed by Securitas Management or Client representative.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Post-Secondary college certificate in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent, or

NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter Level I & II from a recognized College.

  • Valid G class Driver’s License.
  • Standard First Aid Certificate issued by Red Cross (achieved within 1 year prior to applying for post and is to be maintained).

Requirements

  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of commencement of post.
  • Must be able to use a computer and operating controls along with various security software applications.
  • Must be able to display clear and quick thinking to resolve problems whilst being able to withstand stress and stay cool under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate calmly and clearly whilst on the phone with an ability to analyze and summarize information accurately.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Competent in the use of Outlook, Excel, Word, Lenel and PowerPoint.
