Job Title: Studio Instructor
Location: Victoria, BC
Hours: Part-time, hours are dependent on seasonal programming needs and can be up to 48 hours per month (school and weekend programming) and/or 20 hours per week (spring and summer camps).
Salary: $31.07 per hour (Effective March 22, 2025) - Unionized Position, CUPE Local 410, Pay Grade 6

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV) stands as a beacon of culture and community, nestled just 20 minutes from downtown Victoria in a serene park-like setting. About the Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Studio Instructors to join our dynamic education team. This is a hands-on, public-facing role that involves designing and delivering arts-based programming to learners of all ages, including school groups, children, youth, and adults. Programs may include studio workshops, school tours, camp activities, and exhibition-aligned experiences.
You’ll bring your creativity, classroom management skills, and love of art education to a team that values collaboration, equity, and meaningful engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and deliver studio programs that align with AGGV exhibitions and BC curriculum, using hands-on, age-appropriate strategies for diverse learners.
· Facilitate engaging experiences such as school tours, workshops, and seasonal camp programming for children, youth, and adults.
· Prepare materials and maintain studio spaces to ensure smooth program delivery and respectful, inclusive learning environments.
· Develop lesson plans and adaptable resources, supporting curriculum goals and learner needs across various age groups.
· Collaborate with the Educator, School and Family Programs on program planning, logistics, and evaluation, contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
· Offer peer support to fellow instructors and contribute to a consistent, high-quality experience for program participants.
· Work cross-departmentally to support institutional programming goals and participate in major Gallery events like Paint-In and Urbanite.
What We're Looking For:
- A degree or diploma in Education, Fine Arts Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or facilitating learning for children, youth, or multi-generational groups in formal or informal settings.
- Strong facilitation and curriculum development skills, with an ability to adapt content for diverse learners.
- Excellent classroom and time management skills to keep sessions smooth, safe, and engaging.
- A creative, adaptable, and collaborative approach to working with teams and the public.
- A completed Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) is required.
