Job Description :

Position Summary

Cogeco is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and technically experienced Data Architect with the ability to drive change and make things happen. This role is central to the design and implementation of robust data platforms and solutions that will enable best-in-class analytics, marketing technologies, and AI capabilities for the company.

Responsibilities

As Data Architect you will:

  • Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability.
  • Apply sampling techniques to effectively determine and define ideal categories to be questioned.
  • Compare and analyze provided statistical information to identify patterns, relationships and problems.
  • Define and utilize statistical methods to solve industry-specific problems in varying fields, such as economics and engineering.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and other departments by analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Train assistants and other members of the team how to properly organize findings and read data collected.
  • Design data objects and corresponding supporting code using various available techniques and tools to improve and update software and applications.
  • Refer to previous instances and findings to determine the ideal method for gathering data.
  • Work in close collaboration with the associate data architect, solution architect to ensure the success of IT services, products and the mobilization of teams.
  • Engage in the data driven transformation.
  • Work closely with data engineering and AI engineering teams, providing architectural oversight and contributing to development efforts as needed.
  • Define and implement a comprehensive hybrid data architecture framework that seamlessly integrates cloud and on-premise components for all core data domains.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of the Harmonized Raw and Technical Consumption layers, ensuring scalability, performance, and adherence to data quality standards with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to define and implement a unified and scalable Cogeco Customer Data Profile (CCDP) architecture that can handle both Wired and Wireless data for BZL and CCX.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of a modern data infrastructure, encompassing both OLAP and OLTP systems, ensuring alignment with business needs and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design and implement data structures and pipelines optimized for machine learning, ensuring efficient data access and feature engineering in a hybrid environment.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to establish a robust MLOps infrastructure that supports the deployment, monitoring, and management of AI/ML models in production.
  • Develop and maintain a data architecture roadmap that supports the integration and scaling of generative AI solutions.
  • Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including data classification and access control, ensuring consistent enforcement across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Ensure that data architecture solutions comply with all relevant security and privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data architecture, cloud computing, and AI/ML to continuously enhance the hybrid data environment.
  • Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimize data processing efficiency.
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing and collaboration with IT teams and business users.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in working with a Cloud Services platform (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field (an asset).
  • Strong math and analytical skills are essential to complete job requirements successfully.
  • Able to compile and organize statistical information retrieved and present findings to management.
  • Experience working with private and sensitive personal information.
  • Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills are required when meeting with and interviewing potential clients.
  • Excellent multitasking skills and task management strategies.
  • Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of web application architecture and infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in a complex development environment and handle dependencies across multiple teams in multiple sites.
  • Ability to propose best data storage for particular business functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Good standard SQL skills.
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with Google database services, knowing its techniques and best practices.
  • Standard SQL experience, coding of stored procedures, functions and automated data changing processes.
  • Proven experience with data objects and data transformation deployment processes.
  • Ability to work with data modeling tools; creating DDL.
  • Experience architecting and implementing data flows; ETL/ELT, message data transformations.
  • Experience with BigData technologies, NoSQL is an added value.
  • Understanding of the full data objects data lifecycle.
  • Understanding of Data Governance concepts and techniques, including MDM and DQ.
  • Proven experience in defining and implementing comprehensive hybrid data architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to design data structures and pipelines optimized for machine learning and MLOps infrastructure.
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written) required to collaborate with stakeholders in Quebec, Ontario, and across the United States.
  • Experience providing architectural guidance for Generative AI solutions and pilot projects.
  • Strong understanding of data governance policies and security compliance in hybrid environments.
