Compensation Details
- Audit 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, or Montreal.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview We are seeking a senior auditor with a passion for innovation and excellence in customer service. An integral part of a multi-disciplinary team of auditors who provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services across the organization, including EDC’s financing & insurance portfolio, finance and human resources processes, and environmental, social & governance (ESG) risk management practices. We are seeking an individual who is proactive, has experience leading projects and identifying key risks, is curious, eager to learn and share ideas, builds positive relationships with our internal customers, and has a continuous improvement mindset.
You will participate in the Internal Audit’s day to day operational activities and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Internal Audit’s methodologies and standards. Your keen analytical skills, sound judgment and audit experience will be valuable assets in carrying out audit assignments.

What You Will Be Doing
- Responsible for the completion of the engagement planning activities, including interviews, walkthroughs and documentation review, as well as developing a comprehensive risk assessment and audit program
- Will typically lead (Audit Lead) Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance and Ethics audits, of the complex commercial portfolios, select risk elements or procedures within a portfolio, or elements across portfolios.
- Contributes to the comprehensive risk and control assessment and audit planning process. Conduct comprehensive review of complex commercial loans, including an assessment of Credit Quality, Strategy, Underwriting, facility structure, Approval, on-going portfolio performance monitoring, annual review, risk rating, problem loan management, and credit file integrity.
- Validate credit/financial information to verify the credit worthiness of the borrower/guarantors and validity of the loan/credit relationship and validate selected loan and collateral documentation for adequacy, adherence to documentation policy.
- Assesses business risks and processes to facilitate developing, updating and executing related audit programs. Communicate with underwriters, adjudicators, analysts, credit administrators and other management in a logical and positive manner
- Responsible for the completion of the fieldwork phase of the engagement ensuring adequacy of procedures undertaken as part of the audit program to assess the control environment. Identifies opportunities for leveraging data analytics, application control testing and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including basic skills for performing these activities.
- Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of audit methodologies, processes and services.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective client relationships throughout all phases of the audit through effective written and oral communication.
- Leads the drafting of audit findings and supports clients in the development of action plans to address any identified gaps.
- Leads the audit reporting process, including drafting of the engagement audit report, using clear and concise language.
- Proactively follows up with action plan owners on finding remediation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
- Coaches junior resources throughout the audit process.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team of professionals.
What We Are Looking For
- Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or in a related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in internal audit or other related areas.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies, professional standards, and practices.
- Expert knowledge of credit risk, commercial lending and structured finance related products and processes with emphasis on corporate and investment banking activities
- Experience in project management against established timelines.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of products and business processes within the financial services sector.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including attentive listening.
- Ability to build trust with business teams.
- Ability to collaborate with other teams/functions to develop and implement solutions.
- Commitment to promoting continuous improvement opportunities.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Direct experience in auditing credit risk areas and knowledge of credit risk processes, analytics and risk management practices in Financial Services and/or Insurance industry is preferred.
- Experience in performing data analytics and use of Generative AI tools (e.g.: Microsoft Copilot).
- Experience in ESG.
- Experience in audit of financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
- Working knowledge of audit software, such as Auto Audit.
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
- Successful completion of one of the following designations: CPA, CIA, MBA, and/or other relevant designations.
