JOB DESCRIPTION
Agricultural Consultant (Technical Veterinary Services) includes education, interpretation and operationalization of various colostrum use-cases as defined and developed by SCCL directly and in collaboration with industry and scientific stakeholders. This role is intended to service existing sales forces by helping them engage at a deeper technical level with the relevant veterinarians, nutritionists and other specialists that need conditioning in colostrum science and applications. The territory includes Canada, USA, Mexico, Spanish Latin America and Spain.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing educational sessions in the form of presentations via producer events, veterinary seminars, webinars, or symposiums in Spanish and English in Canada, USA, Mexico and other Spanish speaking dairy and beef markets (Latin America at large and Spain).
- Engaging with veterinarians, producers, nutritionists, and researchers regarding SCCL’s product arsenal and applications in the form of meetings to answer questions and provide updates on new research.
- Performing consultative visits to prospective clients or support sales opportunities or research partners to establish a research protocol.
- Developing slides for educational material and working extensively with the marketing team to develop new material regarding SCCL’s various colostrum applications.
- Reviewing and developing formulations for new products or feeding regimens regarding SCCL colostrum applications, both in research trials and client feeding plans.
- Using SCCL’s veterinary technical service knowledge to teach, promote and operationalize the many protocols for colostrum use.
- Reviewing published research papers for pertinent journals and utilizing findings to support SCCL’s marketing team and educational endeavors.
- Performing collaborative meetings with researchers regarding trial design and review or trial outcomes. Writing papers or documents used in published articles to summarize research findings or developing marketing material regarding colostrum applications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in the form of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or PhD required
- Previous experience working with calves in various scenarios in both the Beef and Dairy Industry
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) REQUIRED
- Must be willing to travel 2-3 weeks out of the month
- Extensive knowledge regarding the husbandry of calves is required
- The individual must possess knowledge of how to properly manage calves via herd health protocols and nutrition protocols and understand the economics of calf care in general
- Experience in presenting to diverse groups in diverse settings
- Strong organizational and planning skills are considered an asset
- Must be willing to perform long hours at times
- Decision-making skills regarding diagnostic testing are considered an asset
- Experience operating Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Other software programs, such as dairy comp and nutrition software, can also be utilized.

- Compensation: $95,000 CAD
