Position Overview We are seeking a strategic and experienced Business Systems Analyst to help shape the future of REALTOR.ca’s mobile applications. As a key analytical leader on our team, you will work cross-functionally to assess business needs, translate them into clear technical requirements, and champion solutions that improve operational efficiency and user experience. Your portfolio would include REALTOR.ca’s two mobile application brands: our consumer-focused and member-focused apps. Your contributions will directly empower millions of Canadians on their journey to find their dream homes, while enabling our teams to work smarter and faster through well-aligned systems.

Core Competencies:

  • Requirements Elicitation & Documentation : Expert in organizing and leading stakeholder workshops to gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements that align business goals with technical capabilities.
  • Portfolio Understanding : Ability to immerse in product portfolios, understand objectives and challenges, and develop strategic approaches that drive business outcomes through full SDLC support-from ideation to release and maintenance.
  • Gap Analysis & Solution Design : Proficient in identifying gaps between current-state systems and desired future-state capabilities, and in recommending practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Scope Assessment & Feasibility Analysis : Skilled in evaluating project scope and feasibility, contributing meaningfully to planning and prioritization activities.
  • Business-Technology Liaison : Acts as a collaborative bridge between business stakeholders, developers, QA, and external partners to ensure shared understanding and alignment across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Agile Development Practices : Deep understanding of Agile methodologies with the ability to create clear, incremental user stories and acceptance criteria, and to work in fast-paced, iterative development cycles.
  • Mobile App Domain Knowledge : Familiar with mobile application design and development principles for Android and iOS, including platform-specific constraints, UI conventions, performance tuning, and release workflows.
  • Process & System Modelling : Proficient in developing artifacts such as Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), business workflows, and system/process flow diagrams to visually communicate technical and business processes.
  • Data Analysis & SQL Proficiency : Capable of writing and executing SQL queries to extract and analyze data, support decision-making, and validate system functionality through data insights.
  • IT Security & Architecture Awareness : Contributes to the adoption of IT security best practices and participates in architecture and system design discussions to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Critical Thinking & Root Cause Analysis : Able to dissect complex problems, uncover underlying causes, and recommend robust, long-term solutions beyond surface-level fixes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Support : Skilled in interpreting data patterns and trends to support product recommendations, feature prioritization, and business strategy refinement.
  • Systems Thinking : Demonstrates the ability to conceptualize systems holistically, understand interdependencies, and anticipate downstream impacts of proposed changes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Adept at managing diverse stakeholder relationships, aligning expectations, and ensuring active collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitation & Consensus Building : Experienced in leading effective meetings and workshops that drive clarity, resolve ambiguities, and facilitate collaborative decision-making.
  • Clear & Adaptive Communication : Communicates complex information clearly and appropriately, adjusting tone and content for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical discipline, Business Systems Analyst or in a similar role, ideally within a product-centric or Agile software development environment.

  • Technical Proficiency:

  • Demonstrated understanding of software design, implementation, and deployment processes, for mobile products, Including:

  • Requirements gathering

  • Privacy and security considerations

  • Process improvement and change management

  • Issue management

  • Training development and delivery

  • Operational support planning

  • Experience using project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or similar agile project tracking and documentation tools.

  • Communication:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
