WHAT IS THE SPECIAL INTEREST PROGRAM?

To expand our expertise in the Orthopaedics Clinic, PRHC is offering a program to qualified healthcare workers to expand their skills and knowledge by providing the opportunity to participate in 850 supervised hours to be eligible to write the online examination and then Oral and Practical exam in person through CSOT. Upon successful completion of the hours, written and practical exams you will be guaranteed a Part Time Orthopaedic Technologist position.

This initiative requires significant commitment from both PRHC and the applicant – a minimum of two years of service in the Orthopaedic Clinic following completion is required.

The successful candidate will be hired as an Orthopaedic Technician until they have successfully obtained their certificate/registration as an Orthopaedic Technologist.

HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Registered Orthopaedic Technologist performs duties related to the specialty of Orthopaedics under the clinical direction of Orthopaedic Surgeons and General Physicians.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology and related medical terminology or training as an Orthopaedic Technician from a reputable educational facility.

  • Registration with Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (C.S.O.T.). – Student membership

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients, staff and physicians.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to think quickly and make appropriate decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to different situations and varying patient acuity.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education to maintain C.S.O.T registration.
