Position Overview The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Health and Safety Department in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System. The primary objective is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all Home Depot employees and customers by upholding the highest health and safety standards. Additionally, this position plays a key role in ensuring that business operations remain fully compliant with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include assisting in risk assessments, policy development, safety training, and compliance monitoring to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze incident investigations submitted by business locations and provide feedback with a primary focus on prevention.
- Recommend process changes to reduce injuries and incident.
- Have an active role in locations Joint Health and Safety Committees, lead/participate in monthly meetings and promptly follow up on issues through to resolutions.
- Ensure operational execution of the emergency evacuation plan (including annual evacuation drills).
- Support and overseeing the sites Health and Safety documentation to include program design, data collection and posting, training documentation and KPI reports.
- Record and maintain weekly injury statistics and ensure that all necessary parties receive updated weekly statistical reports regarding workplace injuries.
- Conduct Health and Safety Training Programs as designed by Supply Chain Health and Safety Department.
- Support Supply Chain locations in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance to all health and safety related practices and policies (legislative and internal).
- Supporting with performing investigation and the route analysis for all safety related accidents and incidents as needed.
- Provide H&S support and expertise to sites to help drive H&S performance.
- Support the Supply Chain network with implementing long term H&S strategy and promoting a behavior-based approach to safety.
- Development of safe work practices and standards.
- Managing The Home Depot Canada’s oneFOCUS program.
Competencies
- Relevant work experience in the field of Health & Safety.
- In-depth knowledge of Provincial Health & Safety Regulations and understanding of Federal and associated safety legislation.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to extrapolate pertinent information from various sources (incident investigation reports, health and safety performance report, incident statistics).
- Familiar with Supply Chain / Warehousing.

- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationship with all personnel.
